Spotlight On...

The ever-popular Tan Marie, (affectionately known in the coolest of circles as Teem),
a fun drubnk, (and cheap date), who is much funnier than the average Virginian.

Location:   Virginia
How did you come up with "Tan Marie"?  Ah yes.  This question.  I always get it and never know how to answer it.   I don't really have a good explanation, as I am neither tan, nor a "Marie."   I was sitting there trying to come up with a really cool user name for TWoP.  If you sound out the syllables, Tan-ma-rie kinda sounds like Tif-fa-ny, no?   Okay, no.  Um, next question?
Where were you born?  Stuttgart, Germany

How long did you live there?  Were you taught to speak German?  I lived over there for about 10 years.   My mom is German and my dad was in the US Army.  Go Army!  Anyway, yes, I'm fluent in German and travel back over there as often as I can.

What did you want to be when you grew up?  Well, let's see.  The first thing I remember wanting to be was "retired."  I was totally serious at first but after that garnered a few laughs I used it to death.  Later on I wanted to be a ballerina, a fashion designer, a model, an interior decorator, a meteorologist, an actress, Mrs. Corey Haim, an architect and an archaeologist.   Oh, and a forest ranger.   Until I saw Grizzly.
I know you recently started a new job.  How's that going?  Meh.  It's okay.  And did I say meh?  It's a job.  I don't hate it, I don't love it.  Meh.

What were mealtimes like for you as a child?  My mom always cooked a full meal, which was often German and therefore yummy.  I was always expected to be home for dinner and we sat around the kitchen table and talked about our day and all that stuff.   I'm an only child so basically dinner consisted of me babbling at a rapid pace for 30 minutes.  It's a wonder (and a shame) none of my mom's cooking skillz rubbed off on me.   Because now dinner usually consists of Pop Tarts or Cap'n Crunch. 
Does your husband cook? He does!  But it's usually dead animal on the grill, as is befitting a manly man.  

Did you ever like any of your school photos?   Oh yes, of course.  I mean, c'mon!  There were two I remember NOT liking: my third grade photo (my candy necklace had gotten stuck in my shirt collar, and so wasn't displayed to its full effect) and my 11th grade photo (my smile was as big as the freaking universe and I was looking batshit crazy).
What was your first date like?  Uhh... I don't actually remember my first date.  My first date with my husband was to the mall to get me a cookie.   And then he got pulled over by the mall police because he was hauling ass through the parking lot in his red 1985 Renault Alliance.  That car was the bomb.  Once, his drivers side seat broke, and he took it out and replaced it with the passenger side seat.  So I got to ride around in the backseat and stretch my legs out.  Kinda like being chauffered!  

What is in your vegetable bin?   Beer, string cheese, and parsley.   And probably something I'm hiding from the robbers that I put there months ago, and forgot about, and will probably be frantically searching for in a few weeks. [Editor's note~ There was beer.  Past tense.]
Everyone will want to know you hid from the robbers, you know.   Well, see, there might not even be anything hiding in there.  I don't know.   The robbers are sneaky, so I have to find really good hiding spots.  Like I bet there's something hidden under the pile of clothes in the corner of the garage.  The robbers would never think to look there.  Although now that I've said that,  I'll have to move it, in case the robbers read this.

What color is your car?  Ah, my beloved car.  My car is green with almost a hint of silver.  Silvery-green, if you will.  It is most beauteous, wise, generous and fair, just like its owner.  Its owner, THE BANK.

Are you having a good hair day?   Aye!  On this fine day me hair has not yet been flattened by me piiiiiiiiiiiirate hat.  Arr!

So, you DO like to dress like a pirate?!  Well, only when I'm going out pillaging and plundering.  Or to Wal-Mart.

What is your favorite cologne?  Cologne, Germany.   Which is actually "Köln" so I don't know how in the hell that got translated to "Cologne."  But it is a fine town indeed.
Again, I forgot to change that to "perfume".  Perhaps I should should ask "what is your favorite scent?"  I don't really have a favorite perfume.  I like the smell of clean laundry and honeysuckle and jasmine vines and fresh cut grass and sunshine and puppies and rainbows!  Okay, rainbows don't smell but humor me in my tangent.
What is your middle name?  Susann.  Pronounced "Suzanne," not "Susan."   Take heed.

What type of books do you like to read?  See, I only read extremely intellectual books that... oooh, alright, I read bodice rippers!  Full of sex and heaving bosoms and swooning!  Complete with silly dialogue, unbelievable plots and manroots!   I especially enjoy the ones where the hero and heroine of different stations fall in love, get torn apart by tragedy, and then find each other again and make many behbehs.   But sometimes I read stuff by guys like Stephen King and Dean Koontz.  Not that that's deep stuff either.  But definitely less heaving and swooning.
People give you a hard time about not blogging more.  What is your excuse?   I guess I spend so much time talking about myself OFF of my blog that I don't really have much else to say ON the damn blog.   What I really need to do is get other people to talk about me on THEIR blogs more often, like Overg has managed to do.  Highwaygirl and PrincessRoo already do a pretty decent job of mentioning me often.   Although there's always room for improvement.  Mmmm hmmm.
What is your favorite type of cookie?  I am not picky about cookies.  I like chocolate chip, sugar, and oatmeal raisin the best.  Incidentally, Subway and Schlotzsky's make SLAMMIN cookies, yo.
Tell us about your addiction to lipgloss.  Hmm.  Well, it all started in 2002 when Looking Good was formed.  I innocently spent $18 on a tiny-ass Bobbi Brown gloss, and liked it so much that I decided that my life should be dedicated to buying overpriced beauty products.   Unfortunately, my wallet and I have recently reached our maximum capacity on most makeup (*gasp*).  What I really should do is plan a good plundering of Nordstrom.
Who would you like to see featured on the next Spotlight?  I would be forced to walk ye olde planke if I didn't nominate me first mate Nancybeth!

Of Slackers and Suckers

Okay, so I totally blew off Food Friday due to lack of interest, namely mine.

I still have some campfire recipes to share at some point, and have had several requests for more peanut butter (!) recipes.   I'll come up with some stick-to-the-roof-of-your-mouth goodies next week.

I am finally caught up with the live feed recaps at HT.  It only took me 5 days to do it, and though the hamsters this year are as annoying as ever, there's a lot of good material there already.  Let the evictions begin!

Several of you know that the two fish I bought for my outdoor fountain died a few weeks ago,  though I was successfully able to do the old switcheroo before my daughter
found out.  Not to be outdone, those two new fish bit it while I was in Michigan, because we had storms that tripped the breaker and killed the pump.  My neighbor came over as soon as I'd gotten home to tell me that she buried them, and was sorry.  My grief lasted all of about 36 seconds, and I then decided that I would not be buying any more this year.  The tank was looking quite green and murky, and I feared that the two surviving fish, (some suckers), wouldn't be able to clean it without some help from me, so two days ago, I went out, armed with a net, a bucket, and some bleach, only to find hundreds of little creatures swimming around in there.  Upon further inspection, I realized that these were baby suckers, and although they are not pretty to look at, I will soon have the cleanest fountain in town!
I just pray that my daughter doesn't want to name them all.

Access This!

Food Friday got put on hold today, because I have been busy installing my new
HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS!  Woot! That's right, I didn't need no stinkin' technician to come in and hook it up, I did it all myself.  Not that it was difficult, but I enjoyed saving the money, and not having to watch someone's ass crack all afternoon.
It was about damn time, I know. 

So, after taking a while to play around with the new features, I will get back
to work on some recipes, visiting blogs, and catching up on recaps.
